If you’re like me, you know that when the “Check Engine Light” comes on, it means time and money is about to be wasted. In the past, I paid the local repairman to hook up his machine to my car for diagnostics. While in the waiting room while he checks the error code, one only hopes to be told the truth.
Recently I found out if you go to auto zone they will come out to your car with their computer for diagnostics. This not only saves money (auto zone doesn't charge) but it also saves a lot of time since no waiting is involved. Once they read the description of the error code you can then determine if it is something you can do by yourself or if you need a trained professional. If you have received the error code "emissions problem" it could be the result of a loose gas cap.
